30 March in the church calendar is the day of commemoration of the Monk John the Leafcutter. He was born in a pious Christian family around 570. When he was 20 years old he decided to take monastic tonsure. After that he went to live in the desert, where he stayed for forty years.
John tried to deny himself any carnal desires, tasted food that was allowed to monks, but he ate it in very small quantities. He spent almost all his time in prayer. Subsequently returned from the desert and became hegumen of the Sinai monastery, but after four years, realising that such a life is not for him, again secluded.
What should not be done on 30 March
It is better to refuse on this day from going to visit those who are planning a wedding, because it can cause a big quarrel between lovers. Since ancient times our ancestors believed that you can’t wear dark-coloured clothes – you will get into trouble.
It is forbidden to lend money or borrow money yourself. It is forbidden to quarrel, swear profanely, get angry. It is better not to do household chores and postpone serious physical labour.
What can be done on this day
On the mirror date it is important to make plans, build projects and dream; do any procedures for beauty and health; spend the day with loved ones; make peace with those with whom you are in quarrel.
On the mirror date it is also customary to make a wish. On the eve of this day you can write a dream on a white piece of paper, put it in a bowl of drinking water and leave it on the windowsill overnight. In the morning it is recommended to drink this water on an empty stomach, and bury the paper in a deserted place.
On the mirror date will open a real portal of new opportunities, so it is important on this day not to miss a second of precious time and have time to do as much as possible. The more kindness and good emotions you give to people, the more will come back to you.
