US billionaire owner of social network x Ilon Musk said on 10 March on the air of Fox Business TV channel that IP addresses from Ukraine were involved in a cyberattack on his social network.
“We’re not exactly sure what happened. But there was a massive cyberattack with IP addresses that are around Ukraine,” Musk said.
Ukrainian authorities have not commented on the report.
Earlier, the businessman said that a cyberattack on the social network X (formerly Twitter) was ongoing. Musk suggested that a “large coordinated group and/or country” could have been involved in the attack, although he did not name which one.
X users reported disruptions to the social network throughout the day on 10 March. The monitoring service DownDetector also records an increase in the number of weaponised alerts over the past 24 hours – they relate to both website and app performance.
