Netanyahu will travel to Hungary on 2 April and meet with Orban

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will fly to Hungary on Wednesday evening, 2 April. The corresponding schedule of the politician was released by his office.

It is known that Netanyahu will meet with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who in November rejected the decision of the International Criminal Court to arrest Netanyahu for alleged war crimes in Gaza and invited him to pay an official visit to the country.

Hungary is Israel’s ally in the European Union and NATO.

US President Donald Trump signed an executive order on 6 February imposing sanctions against the International Criminal Court “for prosecuting the United States and its allies”. The document states that financial and visa sanctions are imposed against individuals involved in investigations against Americans or their allies, as well as their family members. In particular, the decree calls ” the arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defence Minister Yoav Galant ” unfounded.”

The arrest warrants for Benjamin Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant were invited by the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Karim Khan.

The ICC condemned the decision and said it would continue to provide “justice and hope” around the world.

The US is not a party to the Rome Charter, which established the ICC in 2002. The charter has been signed by 137 countries and ratified by 125 states.
