US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on 14 February held a meeting with G7 foreign policy chiefs on the margins of the Munich Security Conference, Deputy Press Secretary Tommy Pigott said in an official US State Department release.
He said the leaders focused their discussion on key threats to global security – conflicts undermining peace and stability in Africa, Europe and the Middle East, as well as challenges in the Indo-Pacific region and the Western Hemisphere. Pigott said Rubio reaffirmed the U.S.’s “unwavering commitment” to fostering stability in Venezuela and “active engagement” in trying to end the war between Russia and Ukraine.
The Secretary of State and his counterparts also discussed deepening cooperation among G7 nations to better respond to global threats to international peace and security.
Earlier, on 14 February, Rubio held a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the margins of the Moncheng Security Conference. Zelensky specified, during the conversation he briefed the US official on the situation on the front, Russian strikes and the consequences of attacks on the energy system.
“We discussed how we can help Ukraine protect life during the winter cold and strengthen our resilience,” he said.

This year’s Munich Security Conference (MSC) takes place on 13-15 February. It is attended by a number of European leaders, as well as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy with a Ukrainian delegation.
