The Swiss economy grew by 0.2 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2025 compared to the previous three months, according to a preliminary estimate by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).
Growth in the services sector was weak in October-December, while the industrial sector stagnated, the agency said.
The country’s GDP contracted by the highest 0.5 per cent since the pandemic in the third quarter due to 39 per cent US duties on Swiss imports. In mid-November, the two sides agreed to reduce tariffs to 15 per cent.
For the full year 2025, the Swiss economy grew 1.4 per cent after climbing 1.2 per cent a year earlier, well below its average pace (+1.8 per cent since 1981).
“The difficult international situation slowed down the export-oriented industry,” SECO said. – The services sector, in contrast, grew at a rate above average by historical standards.”
