Trump has said his first foreign visits will likely be to Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar

President Donald Trump said his first foreign trip of his second term will likely include visits to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.

“It could be next month, maybe a little later,” Trump said Monday in the Oval Office.

The president’s comments came after Axios reported that White House officials are planning Trump’s first visit to Saudi Arabia in mid-May.

Trump’s first foreign trip during his previous tenure as US president was also to Saudi Arabia around the same time.

In early March, Trump told reporters in the Oval Office that he would likely visit Saudi Arabia “within the next month and a half.”

“Last time I went to Saudi Arabia. They had invested $450 billion. This time I said I will if you put up a trillion dollars to American companies. The implication is to buy a trillion dollars over four years. They agreed to do that. So I’m going to go there,” he said.

Talks between the US, Russia and Ukraine were held in Saudi Arabia in March as Trump seeks to reach an end to the war.
