On the night of 3 January, explosions went off in the Venezuelan capital Caracas, leaving some parts of the city de-energised. According to CNN, the first explosion was reported at around local time.
“One (explosion) was so strong that my window shook after it,” CNN correspondent Osmary Hernandez told CNN.
The cause of the explosions is unclear, and there has been no official announcement of the start of hostilities.

Venezuelan news agencies Efecto Cocuyo and Tal Cual Digital reported that explosions were also heard in La Guaira state north of Caracas and along the country’s coast, as well as in Iguerote, a city on the coast in Miranda state.
Trump has repeatedly warned that the United States is preparing to resort to new measures against suspected drug trafficking networks in Venezuela and that land strikes will begin “soon”.
