In Munich, 250,000 people rallied in support of Iran protests

However, talks between US and Iranian negotiators appear to be more focused on other issues, such as Iran’s nuclear and missile programmes and its network of proxy forces in Lebanon, Iraq and Yemen.

Speaking at a press conference earlier on 14 February, Pahlavi urged Trump to take action.

“The Iranian people have heard you say, ‘help is on the way,’ and they believe in you. Help them and history will record you alongside not only the greatest heroes of the Iranian nation, but also the greatest heroes of the world,” he said.

Other Iranian opposition groups in exile have also announced similar demonstrations in Munich on 13-14 February, where world leaders are meeting for an annual security conference.

Notably, the National Council of Resistance of Iran, which rejects both the current Iranian government and the idea of monarchical rule, held a much smaller protest on 13 February.

Large-scale protests swept Iran in late December and January. At first protesters made demands related to the economic crisis, and later slogans against the government began to be heard.

Authorities report 3,117 deaths, while the human rights organisation HRANA says it has confirmed deaths of at least 6,713 people, mostly protesters. Other human rights organisations and media outlets cite other figures, all of which are unconfirmed.
