Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his wife Olena have arrived on an official visit to the Czech Republic, where he said they will talk about diplomatic efforts and joint pressure on Russia for a lasting ceasefire and an end to the war.
“Meetings are planned with President Petr Pavel and Prime Minister Petr Fiala, the chairmen of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate and leaders of parliamentary factions, as well as heads of defence companies, students and the Ukrainian community,” Zelensky wrote in a telegram.
“Most importantly, our gratitude to the Czech Republic for its principled support and strengthening of our co-operation. The Czech artillery initiative has worked effectively, we will continue. A separate direction of cooperation-development of our military aviation, expansion of training programmes for pilots and provision of our fleet of F-16s. together with the Czech Republic and other members of the aviation coalition we are preparing good news for Ukraine,” he added.
According to the President, the First Lady will take part in the opening of the Healthcare Initiative for Ukraine conference – “an important platform for strengthening international medical partnership and saving the lives of our people”.
Earlier, the administration of the Czech head of state confirmed that Vladimir Zelensky will visit the Czech Republic on 4 May and meet with its President Petr Pavel.
According to the report, Pavel will receive Zelensky and his wife Elena in Prague Castle. The exact time of the meeting is not given.
Before that, the Czech media reported that the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky together with his wife Elena should arrive in Prague on 4 May.
During Zelensky’s visit to Prague in 2023, the Czech Republic confirmed its readiness to provide Ukraine with additional military assistance, including attack helicopters, large-calibre ammunition, as well as to facilitate the training of Ukrainian pilots in F-16 fighter jets.
